World Quality Day 2019
Get excited: World Quality Day is just around the corner!
World Quality Day is celebrated annually to increase awareness of the role quality plays in the growth and prosperity of organisations and nations alike. Every November, World Quality Day reminds us to recognise the impact and contribution of quality management, and to consider how we could better manage quality in order to reap the benefits for business.
This year’s World Quality Day theme is “100 Years of Quality”, in honour of the centenary of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI), the international professional body for quality management experts. The CQI’s founding members established the Technical Inspection Association in 1919 in response to a need to improve the production of munitions after World War I. 100 years and a few name changes later, the CQI still demonstrates its commitment to quality via support of individuals and organisations in improving performance through quality management, including via events such as World Quality Day.
This year David and I are looking back over the most recent iterations of ISO 9001 to see just how much this vital standard for quality management has changed. It’s not quite appreciating the whole 100 years, but to see how far quality management has changed and improved even in Stirling Business Consulting’s 12-year history, it’s exciting to look forward to what quality management may bring in the future.
What are you doing to celebrate World Quality Day this year? If nothing else, it’s a good annual reminder to think about continual improvement of quality in your organisation. Of course, if you need help with this, feel free to give us a call!
