Safe Work Month 2019

Safe Work Month 2019

We’re rapidly approaching National Safe Work Month, held in October of every year.  What better time to time to focus on health and safety, and to commit to improving such in your workplace?

If you’re needing inspiration, Workplace Health and Safety Queensland has you covered – why not head to one (or more) of the many events available in this year’s program

In Brisbane:

  • There’s the free community breakfast in King George Square on Wednesday, 2 October.  Workplace Health and Safety Queensland Ambassadors Shane Webcke and Libby Trickett will be there, and you can enjoy free coffee, sausages, fruit, yoghurt and smoothies.  There will also be exhibitions, competitions, prizes and giveaways.
  • Injury Prevention and Return to Work is in the spotlight with masterclasses and a conference.  The two-hour masterclasses will focus on practical workshopping of key safety and return to work topics.  The full-day conference on Wednesday, 16 October will include a variety of experts presenting on a range of injury prevention and return to work areas and issues, including occupational lung disease, good work design, and stress and mental health issues.
  • The Safe Work and Return to Work Awards will celebrate organisations’ exemplary performance in various areas of work health and safety, such as finding solutions to work health and safety issues, best demonstrated leadership and commitment, most significant work health and safety improvement, and injured worker achievement awards.  The lunchtime ceremony will be held on Wednesday, 9 October.

Throughout Queensland:

  • A range of half-day breakfast forums will provide attendees with practical strategies and ideas to use in workplaces to improve health and safety, networking opportunities, workshops and inspiring keynote presentations.
